This page is a plain-English summary of our standard terms. It has not been reviewed by a solicitor — have it checked before you go live.
1. Who we are
British Flights is an independent travel agency based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us on 020 0000 0000 or at info@british.manageflights.co.uk. Our address is London, United Kingdom.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean British Flights. "You" means the person making the enquiry or booking, and anyone you are booking on behalf of. By using this website or asking us to arrange travel for you, you accept these terms.
2. We act as an agent, not as the airline
This is the most important thing to understand about booking through us. We act as an agent for the airline that will actually operate your flight. We are not the carrier, we do not operate aircraft, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any airline, airline alliance or airport.
When you book, your contract for the carriage itself is with the operating airline, not with us. That airline's conditions of carriage and fare rules govern your journey, and they take precedence over anything on this website if the two ever conflict. We will always tell you which airline operates each leg of your itinerary before you commit to a booking.
Our own responsibility is to arrange the booking accurately, on the terms we have quoted to you, and to pass your instructions to the airline correctly.
3. Quotes and price validity
Every price shown on this website is indicative. Airfares are set by airlines and move constantly with live availability, so a price is only firm once a consultant has confirmed it for your specific dates and passengers and you have accepted it.
A quote we give you is valid only for the period we state at the time, which is often a matter of hours rather than days. If the fare changes or the seats sell before you confirm, we will come back to you with the new price rather than book you onto something you have not agreed.
Prices are quoted in pounds sterling (£) and include applicable taxes, airline surcharges and our service fee unless we tell you otherwise in writing.
4. Making a booking
An enquiry made through this website is not a booking and does not reserve anything. Submitting a form starts a conversation — nothing is held, confirmed or charged at that point.
A booking exists only once we have confirmed availability with you, you have accepted the total price, payment has been arranged, and the airline has issued the ticket. We will send you a confirmation containing your booking reference, the flight details and the fare conditions. Check it immediately and tell us straight away if anything is wrong.
We do not take card details through this website. There is no online checkout here and we will never ask you to enter payment information into a web form. Payment is arranged directly with a consultant.
5. Passenger names and travel documents
The name on your ticket must match the name in your passport exactly. Give us the full name as it appears in the passport's machine-readable section, not a shortened or preferred form. Airlines may refuse boarding where the names do not match, and that is not something we can override.
It is your responsibility to hold a valid passport and any visas, transit visas, permits or health documentation required for your journey, including for countries you only pass through. Requirements vary by nationality and change without notice. Check the current requirements with the relevant embassy or with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office before you travel.
We cannot accept liability if you are refused boarding or entry because a document is missing, expired or does not meet the destination's requirements.
6. Changes, name corrections and cancellations
What you can change depends entirely on the fare rules attached to your ticket. Flexible fares generally permit changes for an airline fee plus any difference in fare. The cheapest promotional fares are frequently non-changeable and non-refundable from the moment they are issued.
Name corrections are treated separately from date changes and are more tightly restricted. Minor spelling fixes can often be made; transferring a ticket to a different person is usually not permitted at all.
If you want to change something, contact us as early as you can with your booking reference. We will tell you what your fare allows and quote the total cost — airline fee, fare difference and our amendment fee — before anything is altered. See our refund & cancellation policy for how refunds are handled.
7. Our service fees
Our service fee covers the work of researching, booking and servicing your itinerary. It is included in the total price we quote you, and we will tell you the amount if you ask.
Where we make a change or cancellation at your request after a ticket has been issued, an amendment fee may apply in addition to any charge the airline makes. We will always tell you the amount before we act. Our service and amendment fees are non-refundable once the work has been carried out, even where the airline refunds the fare itself.
8. Check-in, baggage and airport requirements
Check-in and gate closing times are set by the airline and printed on your confirmation. Arrive in good time — as a general guide, two hours before a short-haul departure and three before long-haul, but this is guidance rather than a rule.
Baggage allowances depend on the airline and the fare type you book. Where an itinerary involves more than one airline, allowances can differ between legs. We will confirm what your ticket includes if you are unsure.
9. If your flight is delayed or cancelled
Where a flight is delayed, cancelled or rescheduled, the operating airline is responsible for rebooking you and for any duty of care such as meals or accommodation. Contact them first, as they hold your booking on the day. Then let us know so we can help with the remainder of your itinerary.
You may have rights to compensation or a refund under UK or EU air passenger rights legislation, depending on the length of the delay, its cause, and where your flight departs from or arrives. Any such claim is settled between you and the airline. We can point you to the right process but we are not party to it.
10. Limits on our liability
We accept responsibility for arranging your booking with reasonable skill and care. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the operating airline or any other supplier, nor for events outside our reasonable control — including but not limited to weather, air traffic control decisions, industrial action, airport closures, security incidents or government restrictions.
Our liability to you for any claim arising out of a booking is limited to the value of our service fee for that booking, except where liability cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under English law.
Airline liability for carriage is governed by the Montreal Convention and the airline's own conditions of carriage.
11. Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance covering cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses, repatriation and your baggage, from the moment you book rather than shortly before you travel. Air passenger rights rules do not cover most of what insurance does.
12. This website
We take care to keep the information on this site accurate, but we do not warrant that it is complete or current at all times, and fares in particular change constantly. Airline names and marks that appear anywhere on this site are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify who operates a flight.
13. Complaints
If something goes wrong, tell us as soon as possible — most problems are easiest to fix while you are still travelling. Contact us on 020 0000 0000 or at info@british.manageflights.co.uk, and give us your booking reference. We will acknowledge your complaint and set out what we are doing about it. Complaints about the flight itself normally need to be raised with the operating airline, and we will help you do that.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page when you make a booking is the version that applies to it.
15. Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
